The bamboo plant

Bamboo is a plant that grows spontaneously in tropical and subtropical areas, it adapts to different temperatures, and the territory most affected by its plantations is Asia. It is an infesting plant, that is, it is not useful for agricultural production and without functionality for man, which grows in areas not suitable for other plantations, so it does not subtract valuable areas for cultivation.

Bamboo in nature grows very quickly, up to 1 m per day, and reaches its maximum height in three months, without the help of man, pesticides or fertilizers. It is born spontaneously, without the need to plant seeds, avoiding any impact with the surrounding environment even during the harvest. This is demonstrated by the consumption of water which is 1/3 compared to other plantations: for bamboo rainwater is sufficient.

The beneficial contribution to the ecosystem is also represented by the minimal carbon dioxide emissions: one hectare of bamboo annually absorbs 62 tons of CO2 and emits 35% more oxygen than other plantations. A natural fibre par excellence, as no polluting chemicals, such as fertilizers and pesticides, are used in its production, which damage the environment and are harmful in contact with our skin.

A natural production, without waste of resources, that does not leave chemical and harmful agents in the tissue that could be released on the skin developing irritations and allergies.

Properties and benefits

This natural fibre has many appreciable properties and benefits that make it unique and suitable for many uses, including the creation of clothing, for which it is considered an excellent alternative to cotton and hemp. A garment produced with bamboo fibre is soft on the skin, delicate and anti-irritating, preventing the possibility of redness.

Thanks to the presence in the fabric's weave of multiple cavities and air cushions, garments are highly breathable, with a very high capacity to absorb liquids, such as moisture and sweat, which evaporates three times faster than traditional cotton, giving freshness for a long time and keeping bad smells away. This peculiarity makes the garment antibacterial and antimicrobial, because it prevents the proliferation of bacteria.

Bamboo fibre garments are suitable in all seasons, as they protect against ultraviolet rays, giving freshness in summer and keeping warm in winter, thanks to their ability to maintain the right body temperature level. In summer, wearing bamboo clothing allows you to have a temperature level 1-2° lower than normal summer clothing. The resistance to ultraviolet rays is a unique characteristic of bamboo, which other fabrics do not have: garments made with this fiber rarely let ultraviolet rays penetrate beyond 200/400nm, therefore the most harmful rays for humans.

The bamboo fiber has an excellent resistance, greater than that of cotton, which makes it flexible and smooth, very soft, almost like silk and cashmere. Creating an object or garment in bamboo makes it 100% biodegradable.

The multiple uses of bamboo

Thanks to the existence of many varieties, bamboo is suitable in the production and creation of many things, especially for the people of the countries of origin: furniture, covers and walls of houses, footwear, furnishings and clothing. In textile production, due to its properties and benefits, it is particularly suitable for bathroom linen. Its ability to absorb moisture makes it a fabric suitable for all types of clothing, particularly for underwear and swimwear.

The use is also very present in household linen such as sheets, mattresses, pillows and pillows, made from bamboo soft and adaptable to the natural lines of the body. The antibacterial, anti-moth and anti-mite action, in these products, allow to avoid the deposit of mites and bacteria: 95% die within 24 hours. Having bamboo objects in the house allows to mitigate pollution, as they generate negative ions that absorb the magnetic waves developed by the electrical systems of the house.

What better fabric than the one produced with bamboo fiber for our children and their soft and delicate skin. Choose it to have natural, soft and resistant clothing, suitable to be repeatedly soiled and washed, able to protect our children from sun and allergic reactions.
