Incredibly simple hacks to extend the life of your clothes
How to save money and the planet
There are some simple ways to extend the life of your clothes that will save your wallet and the planet.
We know fast fashion isn't good for many reasons, but the way we care for our clothes has an impact on how long they last. What many don't know is that if you extend the life of clothes by just nine months, you reduce your carbon, water and waste footprint by around 30%.
Here are some simple tips to extend the life of your clothes:

Separate colours when washing

To prevent your white shirt from turning grey and your bra from turning a horrible shade of pink, separate the colours when washing. For simplicity, divide your laundry into three groups: white, medium and dark. You must also pay attention to the type of material they are made of, and according to that you should wash them at different temperatures to maintain shine and softness.

Wash selectively instead of washing the whole garment

The more you wash your clothes, the faster they will disintegrate. Therefore, it is better to remove the stain from your clothes instead of washing the whole garment. Children's clothes are usually so dirty that you have to wash them all.

Wash Jeans Inside Out

This prevents your favourite jeans from fading and minimises wear in the hem, pockets and waistband.

Wash knitwear on the correct setting

The problem with normal washing is that the fibres of knitwear wrinkle due to the movement of the spin cycle, causing shrinkage. Modern washing machines have specific settings for hand washing and this setting is better for knitwear and silk.

Air dry your clothes

It is much better for clothes to be dried in the open air because it consumes less energy than tumble drying and, in addition, the sun is a great stain remover. Drying white laundry in direct sunlight helps to keep it very white and if you put coloured laundry in the shade it will not fade.

Try to Waterproof shoes and bags regularly

Leather is a very tough product, but it must be protected. Buy a leather protection spray and apply it before using your bag or shoes. This makes it waterproof and prevents it from staining. You can also buy a leather cream or conditioner, which will make leather items soft and supple over time.

Repair your clothes

The main problem with sustainable fashion is always cost. High-quality clothes cost more because the fabric is more expensive, but they also last longer and are better for the skin. It is important to invest in the clothes you wear every day.

Buy clothes that suit you

Don't be tricked by the latest colour trends, styles or must-have patterns. You should buy the clothes that you really need, that you like and that suit you.
