ABOUT FASHION REVOLUTION WEEK
Fashion Revolution Week is an annual campaign bringing together the world’s largest fashion activism movement for seven days of action. Fashion Revolution Week 2023 marks 10 years since the Rana Plaza tragedy. Using the 10 points of the manifesto as building blocks, our Global Network of Fashion Revolutionaries in 75 countries are bringing people together to build a vision for radical change.
MANIFESTO FOR A FASHION REVOLUTION
The theme for this year’s Fashion Revolution Week is MANIFESTO FOR A FASHION REVOLUTION. We love fashion. But we don’t want our clothes to exploit people or destroy our planet. We are coming together as a global community to bring our manifesto into reality
WHY WE NEED A FASHION REVOLUTION
Back in 2018, we created a 10-point manifesto that solidifies our vision to a global fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit. Since then, over 14,000 people around the world have signed their name in support of turning these demands into a reality.
REMEMBERING RANA PLAZA
24th April marks 10 years since Rana Plaza. On 24 April 2013, the Rana Plaza factory building in Bangladesh collapsed in a preventable accident. More than 1,100 people died and another 2,500 were injured, making it the fourth largest industrial disaster in history. During Fashion Revolution Week, we are #RememberingRanaPlaza and the lives lost, and demand that no one dies for fashion. As we reflect, we are both inspired by the progress made in the Bangladesh Ready-made Garment (RMG) sector and reminded of the changes still needed throughout the entire global fashion industry.
